When is Picture Day?

Principal's News

It was a pleasure to meet our new families and rejoin with our returning families at our back to school night. I especially want to thank those of you who took the time and initiative to sign on as a volunteer at our school. Your involvement in your child’s education is an investment that reaps great rewards. I would also like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to our Principal Coffee on August 13 at 8am. This is a time for all of us to gather and get to know each other.

PTSA Update

With the new school year starting in full swing it was nice to arrive on our first day of school to a "squeaky" clean playground and parking lot. I would like to say thank you to all the volunteers for coming out to help with our first playground cleanup event of the new school year on Sunday August 1. Even our very own Kathy Bryant lent a helping hand. But a very special thank you needs to be extended to the Aikahi Fire Station (Blue Team - 2nd watch) for volunteering their time to help us clean the parking lot. Much Mahalo!

PCNC News

Welcome to another exciting year at 'Aikahi Elementary School. As the Parent
Community Networking Center (PCNC) Facilitator, my role is to create opportunities
for parents to become involved in their children’s education. The PCNC is located in
the Administration Building directly across from the library; look for the large folding glass doors. The PCNC was created with families in mind, I like to think of it as 'Aikahi's family room. Please feel free to stop by anytime the doors are open or contact me if you:
* Have a question and don’t know who to ask

School Store Update

Please remember that Wednesdays are school spirit days….be sure your child wears their Aikahi T-Shirt with pride! The school store will be open again at the pre-K–5th Grade Open House night August 18th at 5pm.

JPO Update

Our 2010-2011 JPO squad began training on Wednesday, August 11 from 12:30 - 3:30 at Aikahi Elementary. They will be learning the skills and knowledge that they will need to be respectful, responsible JPOs. The Junior Police Officers begin duty on August 12, 2010. We would like to congratulate and thank the following squad members for taking on this duty and providing service to their school.

Healthy Choice Lunch Thursdays

If you are interested in helping with this very rewarding opportunity please contact Jennifer Robinson at jenmomof4@gmail.com. Just one volunteer every Thursday from 11-12 is needed. It is the easiest volunteer opportunity and in that one hour you get to see the entire student population!!

Picture Taking Day

If you can help organize children, comb hair and encourage friendly smiles, please contact Amy Soloman at amy_solomon/aikahi/hidoe@notes.k12.hi.us. Picture Day is Wednesday September 22.

Enrichment Update

We are happy to have the AIkahi Enrichment Program back again for the Fall Semester this year! We would like to say a big Thank You to Amy Solomon who has been running this program for many years. This year she has passed the program to the new parent-run Enrichment Committee.

We are working closely with our Principal and with our vendors to provide a variety of programs for our after school program.

AINA IS - August Update

Kokua Foundation Logo.png

We have completed our first garden event for this school year! With the help of Pauline Jacroux and many of the kids from A+, we harvested Vermicast, which will be used to fertilize our garden beds at the Garden Party on Saturday, August 14, 9-11 AM. Come join in the fun to prepare our beds for planting. The whole family is encouraged to attend. Garden lessons will begin August 28 for grades K, 1 and 5. Keep an eye out for
sprouting plants!

Back to School Night

Thank you to those who turned out on the afternoon of July 28th for Aikahi’s Back to School Night. We were able to get the first look at the class lists, sign up to volunteer for PTSA committees, learn about enrichment, meet the principal and much, much more! We hope you enjoyed meeting other parents and learning about what great things our school has to offer!
